Having just read of the propagandistic use of language, typically by the Left, I came to think about natural selection as propaganda when reading this:
" "...Darwinism threatened
theism by showing that humans and all life" could be explained by
natural selection without the intervention of a god" "
Note the language of willed choice, but attached to the 'trope' of nature, and personified: 'natural' selection. No will involved at all because no person is involved, just random molecular collisions.
So,
the left uses language similarly, an in-group knows that
'progressivism' is a mask for 'revolution' in leftist political usage:
they know what they mean, but the public reads it as nice people
wanting positive change. Tosh!
Natural
selection as the engine for evolution is similar. There is no selector,
no willed 'natural' substitute for a creator. There's nothing.
What
evolution is, but would hobble it from the get go, is random
change with variable extinction. Same result, different public impact. The horror is
obvious.
Not very gripping, or encouraging, but is about cyclical death: biological eugenics!.
Later edit:
A more catchy and startling term for 'Natural Selection' and one far more accurate, and that gives the game away:
Ecological culling of creatures unable to out-compete others in reproduction within a niche.
